Just because you don’t have hundreds to spend on hair care and hair care products doesn’t mean you have to suffer through bad hair day after bad hair day! As someone who isn’t willing to shell out the big bucks for salon treatment, I have made a list of some of my tips and tricks for getting salon-worthy hair on a budget.

Pick Organic Shampoo and Conditioner

Organics get a reputation for being pricey, but there are plenty of good organic shampoos and conditioners that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Shop around and look for coupons. It’s important to have a good, all-natural shampoo and conditioner to maintain your hair’s health.

Keep Hydrated

Drink water, drink water, drink water: I can’t say it enough! Eight glasses of water a day will help keep your hair moisturized and luxurious. Dehydration can make split ends worse and leave your hair looking dull and lifeless. Water won’t just help your hair, though: it will make your skin clearer, help you avoid bloating, and make you feel better all around. And feeling great means looking great!

Take the Time to Get a Trim

Keep your hair trimmed. It’s not too expensive to go to a hairdresser, especially a large chain like Supercuts or Cost Cutters, for a trim every 2-3 months, and it’s vital to your hair health. It will eliminate split ends, which cause hair to look blah and unhealthy. Regular maintenance will keep you out of the salon, and from spending too much money, in the long run!

Invest in a Good Leave-In Treatment

Pick out a leave-in treatment, like Infusium, and use it every time you wash your hair. It’s a great way to boost your haircare routine easily and without spending too much. Leave-in treatments can come in sprays or creams, so pick whatever one you like and apply after washing to keep you hair looking lustrous and soft.

Use Coconut Oil

You probably use coconut oil already on dry skin, but it can work wonders on our hair as well. Comb some through your hair at night, wrap your hair up in a towel, and sleep with it in. In the morning, shampoo and condition as usual. Your hair will be moisturized, sleek and shiny and you will feel like a million bucks. This is not something to make a nightly habit of though; you really can have too much of a good thing! Use it when you feel your hair needs a little extra TLC.

Gorgeous hair is within reach! Follow these steps and you can’t go wrong.
